A new place opening soon in the Highlands combines all of that.
Sign up for our NewslettersPG& J Dog Park Bar has overcome several delays, including those caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The owner Gina Nobles said on Tuesday that the plan is to open to the public some time in December.
Right now, the business is awaiting final inspections.
Nobles, who owns three dogs and recently was fostering another, said she got the idea from a similar dog-friendly bar in her former home city of Austin, Texas.
Her version is a shoutout to her three dogs: Paco, Ginnie and J Roddy.
“Sometimes after a long day at work, you just want to relax, but then you feel guilty because your dogs have been home all day,” she said.
The staff at PG&J Dog Park Bar hope to reduce that guilt for dog owners.
The facility on Baxter Avenue features an 8,000 square feet of open space in the back.
Nobles said they’ll fence one section off for the 'little guys' – dogs under 20 lbs.
“We have ‘bark rangers,’” Nobles told WLKY News. “These are individuals that monitor the play yard – the inside and out – just to make sure that everybody's playing fairly.”
Cleanup and supervision, however, is expected of customers who must also sign waivers before entering.

Massive garage doors allow an easy flow between the indoor bar and outdoor space.
Dogs can be let loose from their leashes while their human counterparts enjoy craft cocktails, local beers, wine or coffee.
Nobles said Fante Coffee created exclusive espresso drinks for PG&J.
Dog owners can purchase monthly or yearly memberships or drop in for a day pass.
Customers do not have to have a dog to enjoy the atmosphere of the bar.
